Clover was officially retired from breeding in 2021 due to a bad udder injury that left her unable to raise lambs. Clover is such a lovebug that we decided to keep her as a pasture pet. We are 100% convinced Clover was a dog in her past life. She is beyond friendly - she absolutely demands attention if it's the last thing you ever do. The second you are in her pen, she will be right there, literally pawing at you for attention. And if you ignore her pawing (with her very sharp hooves), she proceeds to jump up and put her feet on your shoulders - because how dare you ignore her! Clover is extremely intelligent, and also extremely nosy. Clover even has one floppy brown ear to complete her puppy dog look. Her genetics in the herd continue through both her daughter HEDGEHOG HILL "Chamomile" and her son HEDGEHOG HILL "Basil".
We unfortunately lost our dear Sadie to hypocalcemia when she lambed for the first time in early April of 2020. She was a sweet ewe, a loving mother, and a gentle friend to all other ewes in herd. She was our first badger ewe in the herd, and earned a special place in our hearts for her beautiful coloring and temperament. We retained both her ewe lambs and are so glad she did not have two rams instead! Her genetics in the herd continue through HEDGEHOG HILL FARM "Jasmine" and HEDGEHOG HILL FARM "Dahlia".

Otis is a very sweet ram lamb who we have been extremely lucky to borrow for the tail end of the 2021 breeding season. He is extremely unique in that he is a mouflon, also known as a reverse badger. This is a very rare coloring that is just beginning to emerge in the Finn breed, so we are very excited to use him on some of our ewes this year. We will be retaining most of the ewe lambs from his breedings, as we hope to introduce his highly desireable coloring into our herd. Otis also has some solid genetics behind him, so we are very excited to see what he produces.
Cloud (Senior) was sold to a very dear friend in the fall of 2020, as we have retained too many of his daughters to justify using him here. He is being well taken care of and receives plenty of attention. We did retain multiple of his daughters: HEDGEHOG HILL FARM "Jasmine", HEDGEHOG HILL FARM "Dahlia", and HEDGEHOG HILL FARM "Dandelion". We also have his sister, WALKING CLOUD "Fluff".
We decided to reluctantly part with Sequoia this winter (2022) as we have retained many daughters from him and plan to retain more this coming lambing. Sequoia is a gentle, sweet ram with a beautiful fleece who throws stunning, large, fast growing lambs. His daughter Isabelle is one of our best junior ewes, she won both Best of Breed and Breed Champion at the 2021 Topsfield Fair! His genetics continue in this herd through his daughters HEDGEHOG HILL FARM "Isabelle" and HEDGEHOG HILL FARM "Anastasia"
Sabie is our best milker. She routinely produces more than a gallon of milk a day once her lambs are weaned. Although she is smaller in stature compared to some of our other ewes, she makes up for this in her intense milk production. Being a sheep dairy, we rely on milkers like Sabie who we can depend on to provide us with overflowing milk, and for a long time too! Sabie has quite the extended lactation, and is very tough to dry up in September so she can be rebred - thats 6+ months of milk from this girl! Along with this, she has a beautiful grey fleece that is always first to be reserved by handspinners. Due to her extraordinary milking genetics, Sabie's lambs are always first to be retained for our herd. We hope that her daughters, HHH "Dandelion" and HHH "Genevieve", will be able to continue her legacy of milk production. And on top of this, Sabie has incredible prolificacy. She gifted us with triplets in her first lambing, followed by quads, and this year shocked everyone by delivering our very first set of septuplets!! Sabie is a wonderful mother and had all seven up and nursing before we even got there. In 2021, Sabie gifted us with seven lambs - that's right, seven!! That is a record here on this farm, our first set of septuplets, and comes close to the all time Finnsheep record, which is eight live lambs. We are so amazed with Sabie, who lambed easily and has had no issues caring for so many lambs - well done Sabie!! Sabie is a gentle soul and we are so excited to watch her daughters grow in the herd.
Sabie is bred to Milo for spring 2023 lambs

Just as planned, we are retaining "Chamomile", ie Cammie, for our herd. Her sire is Wild Rose "Otis", a mouflon ram who we were very fortunate to borrow from a fellow Finnsheep breeder and close friend at the tail end of this breeding season. Mouflon, also known as reverse badger, is a brand new coloring in the Finns that has just started popping up - so we are very thankful to Clover for giving us both a brown mouflon ram lamb, who looks just like his sire, and Cammie, who is mouflon with some added HST giving her the white markings on her face. Cammie is a bit hesitant but is getting used to making friends with us! Her dam, Clover, is one of the friendliest ewe in the herd, so we hope this trait will reflect onto Cammie nicely. Cammie is maturing well, although she is smaller than her monster of a brother. She has a beautiful coloring and we are very excited to see how she looks as a yearling!
Cammie is bred to Raylan for spring 2023 lambs.

Raylan is our senior ram here at HedgeHog Hill. We purchased him for his excellent genetics: POV farm is one of the best Finnsheep farms in New England, and we are so lucky to be able to have his genetics here at our farm. In addition, "Mr. Ray" represents the one of the three fleece color that we aim for in our breeding: black badger. With Raylan here we feel highly confident in our ability to produce structurally correct, well-bred lambs in many different colors. Raylan has a teddy-bear like personality. He absolutely loves cuddles and attention, and does not mind if you're in the pen with him as long as he gets some grain. He is the sweetest boy and is so kind and gentle to his ewes. His fleece is a beautiful silver color with a hint of piebald spotting - we are very excited to see his lambs this year!
This year (2021), Raylan will be bred to Icicle, Lorelei, Fluff, Jasmine, and Orchid

Basil is going to be a very, very special ram here. We were extremely lucky, and are incredibly grateful, to have borrowed his father, Wild Rose "Otis" from a trusted friend. Otis is a brown reverse badger, a very rare coloring just starting to pop up in the Finns. Unlike the normal badger patterning, which is the classic dark undercarriage and lighter top, reverse badger, also known as mouflon, is exactly that: the reverse - meaning a lighter undercarriage and darker top. Basil is identical to his sire, coloring wise, with a rich brown on top, and tan undercarriage - a classic brown reverse badger. However, unlike his sire who was definitely on the small side, Basil is growing rapidly and is a LARGE, sturdy boy. He is a chonk, and is going to be a hefty, sizeable ram. Basil is going to be extremely important in our breeding program, and he is certainly going to have a date with many ladies this fall. Basil is developing a bit of an attitude, likely from his mother, Clover, who is a on the bossy side, so we are working to tame that by teaching him the halter early. Overall he is a stunning ram with excellent structure, and we are very grateful to have him!
This year (2021), Basil will be bred to Viola, Sabie, Godiva, Dahlia, and Amaretti
