Below you can meet all the lovely ladies who call HedgeHog Hill Farm home. Every single ewe on this page is an integral member of our herd and was hand chosen in order to allow us to create the best possible representation of the Finnsheep breed that we can.
All our sheep here are registered purebred Finns. To see more about their extended pedigrees and genetic excellence, click on the button below each profile!
We strive for capacious, well attached udders with good sized teats and large orifices. We hold our ewes to a high behavioral standard on the milking stand. While we do not push for overproduction and respect their bodies' limit, we are proud to say that our top ewes can do 3/4 of a gallon+ per day after weaning.

"Fluffy", as she's known here, is famous for being the perfect ewe of the herd. She never puts up any trouble, lambed exactly at 145 days with no issues, and raised her first time triplets with no supplementation needed. Plus, she loves people and is 'in-your-pocket' friendly without being demanding. She puts up no fight when being vaccinated, dewormed, sheared, or having her feet trimmed. She is perfectly trained to the halter and walks beautifully with almost no training whatsoever. She is the best behaved sheep, better behaved than most people's dogs. That's why when she broke the hay feeder this past summer, none of us suspected her until we caught her during her second attempt a week later! Fluff has a gorgeous lustery fleece that is next-to-skin soft and beautifully coiled. Although she is white, she carries for brown and has produced solid brown in the past when bred to a solid brown ram. Fluff is showing significant genetics for multiples, producing triplets in her first lambing - and in the fall too! Fluff is an excellent mother: she is incredibly patient and nurturing with her lambs, extremely attentive, and is overall an amazing sweetheart and we are so thankful to have her in the herd. Fluff is a very nice, steady milker, although not pushing out the biggest production in the herd, she is a dream to milk with a well structured udder and endless patience.

Known here as Icy, Icicle is a beautiful black piebald ewe who is tall and long. She is one of the sweethearts of the herd: a gentle, kind ewe who is quick to greet you at the fence and ask, politely, for a snack. Icy has a soft, buttery fleece which is favored by our local handspinners for its unique color: white, with charcoal gray swept throughout. Icy is from the famous Ironwood Hill Farm in NY, known nationally for their high quality fleeces and beautiful Finn cross ewes. Icy has a stunning face with high set ears and inquisitive eyes. Her fleece is thick and tightly curled. Her coloring is very unique in that her piebald spots have badger-like qualities, meaning that her fleece contains spots in beautifully varying shades of black and grey. In addition, Icy has developed a beautiful, capacious udder with large teats that are easy to milk, and she is producing very well so far. Icy is one of the top producers in our herd, easily milking 3/4-a gallon of milk a day after weaning her lambs. She has absolutely amazing teat and orifice size which maes milking her by hand oh so easy, and she has an exceptionally well defined medial which is hard to find in dairy sheep. Icy is very well behaved, and a joy to have in the herd. Icy's first lambs in 2021 were impressively large, especially for a first timer! These lambs weighed 8, 8.5, and 9 lbs at birth, which is double the weight of normal Finn lambs! That is especially and exceptional achievement for a first time ewe! She is a wonderful mother and a gentle, sweet ewe who makes friends with everyone in the herd. In 2022 we retained one of Icy's ewe lambs "Frost and Starlight", know here as Frosty, who is an incredibly tall, lengthy young ewe and we are certainly excited to see her mature!

Willa and Daisy are like two peas in a pod: you will never find them apart. Willa is definitely the cutest ewe in our herd. With her stand-up ears, freckled nose, and kind eyes, she is sure to make you smile the minute you walk through the doors of the barn. Plus, when you scratch her, she both squats and wags her tail furiously. Willa has the most beautiful fleece in the entire herd - and we select for fleece type, so our fleeces are held to a very high standard. Her fleece is buttery and soft, gentle curls that are perfectly coiled and a gorgeous creme color. The luster is so strong that her fleece actually shines, and her crimp is incredibly even across her whole body. And where it fades to a milk chocolate brown, it gleams golden in the sun. Willa's fleece is the one featured in both our home page and our Facebook page. Willa is still young, and is maturing into a large framed, long ewe with a flat topline and strong shoulders. Most of all, Willa is in our herd for her wonderful temperament and her beautiful fleece, and we are so glad to have her!

"Orchi" as we call her here on the farm is a sweet grey badger yearling ewe. She is the most loving, "in-your-pocket" ewe that we have here - even more than the bottle babies! The minute you sit down in her pen, she will immediately come sit in your lap and nibble on your hair. She is so extremely friendly that she is impossible to photograph because all she wants is a full body cuddle. Orchi is a true trouble maker. She is a free-spirit, and you will often hear us yelling out "Orchi!!" upon finding her in an opposite pen or escaped out the gate and happily nibbling on the grass. She is adventurous and there is absolutely nothing in this world she is afraid of. But who can be mad at a face like hers?? Orchi is spoiled rotten and loves her food, which is probably why she's a bit on the chunky side. But although she may not be runway-worthy, Orchi is maturing into a beautiful young ewe: she is tall, long, and a little round. Orchi has a beautiful, luxurious fleece that is thick and amazingly soft, and her badger coloring adds swirls of grey and black to her silvery fleece. Fun fact: her fleece is the fastest growing in the herd! Orchid freshened with a very impressive udder and milks down very easily! Her udder has impressive capacity for a first freshener, as well as amazing attachment and teat placement and size. She is a dream to milk and her two daughters grew up big and strong.

Just like her sister, Dahlia was brought inside and raised as a bottle baby when she was a week old. However, unlike her sister Jazzy, Dahlia did not appreciate the bottle initially. She fought with us and had milk dribble into her nose countless times. After many consultations with the vet, many late nights and early morning, and the lucky discovery of infant nasal drops, Dahlia finally accepted the bottle and developed an appetite to rival her sister. Now Dahlia is thriving and is the biggest ewe in the yearling flock. We are so proud of her and how she is developing. She is maturing into a tall ewe with excellent body size and depth, and of course a wonderful temperament. She is a bit more mellow than her sister, preferring to sit in your lap and nibble on your hair rather than cause mischief. Dahlia has a beautiful thick fleece that is true black, and we work hard to make sure it is not bleached by the sun. We love you Dahlia!

Biscotti is our sweetest, most well behaved ewe in the yearling ewe pen. She loves to observe, and is gentle and eager to please. Biscotti is a half sister to both Willa and Daisy, and the resemblance is very easy to see. She has the same sweet, loving personalty, and fits in so well with our herd. Biscotti is extremely correct, with a smooth topline and sturdy shoulders. Not to mention she is one of the tallest ewe lambs we have ever seen! We are very excited to see her mature over the next year. Biscotti has a thick fleece with beautiful luster, and genetics for multiples! Biscotti freshened with a gorgeous, capacious udder with beautiful teat placement! Absolutely one of my favorite udders of the year, and thats on a first freshener! She appears to be developing on a similar track to her older half sister Daisy with improved teat placement and size. We are so excited to see what she can do next year!

Known here as "Ginnie", Genevieve is a beautiful black badger from Sabie x Raylan. Her conformation is stellar: she is solid and sturdy, with a deep chest, impressive length of loin, and beautiful face markings. She is developing a beautiful fleece, with a tight crimp even across her whole body. She is growing quickly and has a wonderful sweet temperament. Ginnie carries greatly desired genetics for prolificacy, given that she was one of 7! One of our goals for our herd is to focus on prolificacy, which is a critical aspect to the Finnsheep breed, and Ginnie is from our largest litter ever born at our farm! Ginnie is quite the adventurer: if any lamb is going to squeeze through a closed gate or find themselves on the wrong side of the fence, it's her! Ginnie is certainly going to be a stunner!

Isabelle is a solid brown ewe lamb from Daisy x Sequoia. We have been craving a solid brown ewe lamb to keep back for our herd, and what do ya know, the lovely Daisy had one for us! We love this ewe lamb even more because she came from a set of quad ewes - so she's blessed with some super good luck! Isabelle is a beautiful deep chocolate brown, with absolutely no white on her. Plus, she carries for badger too! She has a beautiful tight crimp and a lovely personality. Isabelle is growing quickly and is on track to be quite a big girl! We have found it so difficult to get solid brown ewe lambs in the past, so we are very excited to finally have one to keep back for our flock. Isabelle has done exceptionally well in the show ring so far, beating out much older Finn ewes for the title of Best in Breed and Breed Champion. We are very excited to see how she does as a yearling ewe in the ring next spring. Welcome to the herd, Isabelle!
